Temple Renovation — New Addition
Aichi, Japan | 2006–2007

Phase I — Complete renovation of a temple with a history dating back over 400 years, including Sanjusan Kannon (33 wooden statues). The renovation included the main hall and its structure that dates back over 200 years.

Phase II — A modern addition was added to the existing structure which inlcudes an assembly hall for up to 100 people on the first floor and lodging on the second floor for up to 15 people. A zone between the 200-year-old structure and the new addition is comprised of all the “servant” spaces: the kitchen, stairs (leading to the second floor as well as the roof deck) and all the plumbing facilities.
